18 years ... what's in a number? SwitchWorks Technologies Inc. has been in business 18 years! No other wireless ISP can make that claim. We have been developing and deploying wireless solutions since the late 1980's. Early in our wireless life, SwitchWorks began partnering with groups like Bell Mobility (Ardis) and Rogers Cantel (Mobitex) where we developed a variety of the gateway products that connect wireless users with data networks, like the Internet. SwitchWorks recognized the power of wireless early. We have always maintained our course. Unlike many other entrants into the market, who have jumped into the hyped world of Wireless Broadband, SwitchWorks has been delivering these service for nearly a decade. With experience comes reliability. Focused on the Long Term Our operations are concentrated on the development, delivery, expansion and vigilant improvement of telephony and data communication services. We began building highspeed wireless WAN infrastructure in the Toronto area in the mid 1990's. By the late 1990's SwitchWorks had established a significant network foot print covering the top half of the City of Toronto with a backbone operating at 20 Mbps - years ahead of any competitors. Having worked for years with wireless carriers, we understood where to begin. Unlike other competitive upstarts, SwitchWorks began its network with the development of our backbone. This was necessary to establish a well planned foot print in the GTA. During its development, SwitchWorks established many of its key serving locations, also referred to as Points of Presence (POP's). With a long term vision to the future, SwitchWorks grouped its services under the "WHIP" banner. Years ahead of any competitors, and recognizing wireless would play a significant role in the delivery of Internet services, we trademarked our brand WHIP - Wireless highspeed IP. Today, we at SwitchWorks focus our energy on the evolution of next generation wireless networks which supply connectivity solutions to under serviced areas throughout the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario, Canada. Compelling Availability Many competitors will claim being "the first", "a leader" and "most reliable". To use an old adage, "the proof is in the pudding". SwitchWorks supplies network services to organizations who demand high reliability in the most under served areas. Our disaster recovery services have been used by publicly traded wireless carriers who themselves have been left without services! A testimony to SwitchWorks availability and pervasive coverage throughout its serving territory.
